I have had a good few days, been very productive... nice to get an idea artworked up instead of scamps. I do love the rawness of scamps and a few crits i have been to love to just see the idea as it is. After all as one of my lecturers commonly quotes, "you cant polish a turd." (nicer version for blog) What do we all think? Shall we present to agencies a book full of scamps, a mixture of scamps and artworked pieces or the final things? Or does it blummin matter?
Here's me in the studio working on an entry for d&ad, partner in crime behind camera:

It's hard to tell, we feel the same. Sometimes I know I'd rather go in with a book of scamps, but at other times you feel you should present it in the finished form. For now, I'd say just as scamps, but who really knows.
As for D&AD, which brief are you tackling?

Hey,
That's a shame, thanks though. You've got longer to get in though! ha ha. Yeah a three way team with three people from different places would have been a bit strange i'd imagine! Be cool if you could get on it for a second year - imagine that!
No Idea if anyone else got picked, if you're in London give us a shout or something.
Mike.
It is a good feeling when an idea becomes a fully worked-up ad, but it's not something to worry too much over other than for your degree show at the moment. Time and again we were told that the idea is what's important - be it a glossy professional print, or something scribbled on a napkin that you just thought of at the last minute.
Go with whatever the idea lends itself to - some ideas are best executed to their fullest, whilst others retain more of their original charm if you keep them as scamps. It's OK to have a book that's a mish-mash of scamps and prints, it just shows you're versatile.
