Ogilvy Fellowship

I received an email today about the Ogilvy Fellowship programme. see www.ogilvyfellowship.co.uk

Seems a great idea, three years of placement. Has anyone else applied for it?

I have had a crit in ogilvy one already and the place seemed rather swish, but i'm not sure if this would be the right route for me to apply down. I think they do some great work. But if i did get a place would it be quiet restrictive staying in one agency for that long when your fresh and new. hmmmpfff!

Anyhow, whilst i make a dilema about applying... check out there tips on getting into advertising

It all comes down to whether you'd want to work there (and I'm guessing so if you've had a crit there). If the answer is yes, then there's no harm in applying.

Getting to be a permanent fixture in any agency is becoming more difficult by the day with the recession in full swing now - even the big boys don't want to take risks until things settle down. So this could be a great way of ensuring a paying advertising job once you finish uni(if the application was successful, of course).

Go for it! : )

Hayley, this recession thingy is rubbish, if you are worth hiring they will hire you regardless of money, because no agency would want to see a brilliant placement team go somewhere else and win pitches and awards. You can't argue with that fact.

Going to Ogilvy for 3 years may be a smart move if the money is right and they keep on improving. otherwise forget it three years is a long time and you might come to regret it.

But as always think for yourself stop asking peoples opinions as you will never get the same answer and feel even more confused

Indeed i will get confused as everyones opions vary. I do have my own mind about things but it's nice to get others opinions too.

I think i will go for it. Time to crack on with the application!

"They will hire you regardless of money" - I hate to state the obvious, but if an agency has no expendable cash at hand due to clients backing off at the moment, then they couldn't possibly pay for new teams to come in.

Of course everyone's experiences are different, and from what me and my partner have seen and been told, we could be in placements for the long haul. Bear in mind that we're attempting regional agencies - things are no doubt different in London as there's a lot more money down there.

But good for you to be applying and just going for it! At the end of the day, you have all of your final year to be deciding whether you would even take Ogilvy up on their offer if they did give you the opportunity.

Hope everything goes well for you, and I do completely agree with Anon above that if you've got that special something, then hopefully no agency would be daft enough to let you go after placement!

Is the fellowship not just for planners or account?

I assumed creatives would still have to go through the process of book crits?
